Orleans is a suburban area located to the east of Ottawa's downtown core. Most of the suburb's growth revolves around the Place d'Orleans shopping centre which houses over 175 stores for prime retail convenience. Newer business areas have sprung up in Orleans, namely near Innes and Tenth Line roads, with plenty of local restaurants, coffee shops and independent stores. With many exits to the Queensway, the central and western parts of Ottawa are easily accessible. Located in the north-eastern section of Orleans lay the Princess Louise Falls and the parkland of Petrie Island which boast stunning views as well as a marina for water sports. The Ray Friel Recreational Complex is considered the most popular recreation centre in the area boasting a large public library, indoor wave pool, two soccer fields and skating rinks for a selection of all-season activities. This formerly rural community now hosts a great variety of amenities for various demographics and has become a very popular and modern suburban community.
