One of the largest suburbs of Ottawa, Kanata is located west-southwest of the city's downtown core. Before it was amalgamated with the city of Ottawa, Kanata was considered one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. With over 100,000 people, the suburb is also home to the Canadian Tire Centre where the Ottawa Senators play and concerts are regularly held. Boasting specialty restaurants, plenty of parks, the Sensplex, the High Tech Centre, schools and other amenities, the area is great for families. In the north-eastern part of Kanata lies the South March Highlands Conservation Forest with beautiful views and access to nature. With the new Tanger Outlets, there is a huge selection of box stores and other popular outlets. Some of the main neighbourhoods include: Bridlewood, Beaverbrook, South March, Emerald Meadows, Village Green, Kanata Lakes, Katimavik, Glen Cairn and Terry Fox Business Park.
